THE EBRU ART (PAPER MARBLING) AND TURKISH ARTIST SEVIM SAGDIC

Ebru is a Persian word meaning "clouds".The source of this art extends beyond the 15. century.

The definite date of the first ebru made in Turkey is not known. In fine arts, the tradition of not signing and dating ebru still continues.

I am an artist have been working for Ministry of Education for 26 years. Since 1996 I have been teaching and making both Ebru(marbling) and Vitray (Vitrail) in my workshop. While I make paper marbling, I am influenced with my background as a painting artist. I make landscapes and still life with marbling paper techniques.

I have held 10 exibitions all over Turkey. In 2009 I directed a ebru workshop in Frankfurt.
